RCGC Director Christine Froehlich has an article in the current issue of Rochester Magazine (May-June 2008) on Betsy Knapp and her incredible hypertufa troughs. Betsy has perfected the art of making these troughs in her own distinctive, immaculately finished style, and sells them on consignment and at Bristol's Garden Center. Betsy got into trough making to have somewhere to plant the alpine rock garden plants that she has grown to love: "I didn't want one or two, I wanted lots of them." And she has lots of them, planted with everything from alpines to miniature vegetables.
